In this session, attendees will learn about the application of interactive digital signage in the healthcare vertical, trends in touch technologies and projected growth for the vertical. In healthcare environments, interactive touchscreens can be used for a variety of purposes: touchscreen directories, wayfinding systems, interactive media walls, and patient education and check-ins. The increased use can be attributed to several factors, such as reducing patients' anxiety, increasing communication between patients and physicians and decreasing costs associated with static signage. Touch technologies vary but typically include Dispersive Signal Technology, infrared, optical, and projected capacitive.
Carol Nordin, president of TouchSystems, has worked in the touch industry for more than 10 years. Her work has given her an appreciation for the different technologies and their application to and in different environments. The current shift toward more interactive monitors and displays comes as no surprise to Nordin: Her work with the channel and with end users requires a forward-looking approach. Nordin shares her knowledge and expertise with vendors and distributors through periodic trainings and speaking engagements.
