Markville Toyota moved to a new facility in 2005 and decided to implement a digital signage system in the design of the building. The system has several purposes, including information distribution to increase retail sales of cars, aftermarket products and upgrades, and service department specials. The dealership has installed both large format plasma screens and smaller interactive touch screens in the service department, cafeteria and showroom. The interactive screens are intended to allow customers to gain more information about the different cars available for sale and the features and package options for each of those cars. The screens can also help customers learn about the cars that Toyota has coming to market for the following year.
There is a comfortable viewing area set up in the showroom that allows customers to either watch content featuring the entire Toyota line-up of cars, or they can choose the car they are interested in on a smaller touch screen, which triggers the larger screen to play content about that car. Once a customer chooses the car that interests them, the plasma screen located next to the touch screen will play content featuring the selected car, with a more detailed overview of the different features and options that are available to be purchased with that car. Overall, the digital signage system helps the customers make a more informed decision about which car is right for their needs.
In the Guest Lounge and cafeteria, there are screens that are intended to entertain customers while they are waiting for their car to be serviced. In one section of each screen there is a live television feed, while the rest of the screen is dedicated to informing customers about Toyota cars, products, and services. The content runs in real time, so it is constantly showing new information and keeping the customer engaged. The dealership has realized an increase in sales on targeted products such as detailing, and specific service items. This area also helps to promote the Toyota brand and the dealership, which helps to gain new and repeat customer sales.
