LocaModa recently announced several partners committing to its Foursquare application, specifically designed for the digital out-of-home industry.
With Foursquare, the popular location-based social network, users can “check-in” to their favorite locations and announce their whereabouts to their network of friends. Users earn points and badges for checking-in and vie to become the “Mayor” of popular venues.
Companies already committing to run LocaModa’s Foursquare application on their network include IndoorDIRECT (with over 1,000 quick-serve restaurant locations including Wendy’s and Carl’s Jr.) and Clear Channel Outdoor, said the company. Clear Channel Outdoor’s Spectacolor unit will launch the application on its landmark 126-foot LED video screen at the entrance to Las Vegas’ Miracle Mile Shops, becoming the first digital billboard of this magnitude to use a Foursquare application, according to the company.
“There is an enticing and growing demand to take location-based services that are otherwise only visible on mobile phones or online, and make it easy for venues and users to interact with the messages at the location,” said Stephen Randall, CEO, Cambridge, Mass.
“By giving Foursquare a visual and interactive presence in venues, LocaModa is enhancing the user experience and making it easy for venues to offer specials and rewards to their most loyal customers,” said Tristan Walker, director of business development at Foursquare.
“By engaging Vegas Strip shoppers who are already tweeting and checking-in via Foursquare, we create additional value on our digital billboards for both advertisers and venues,” said Harry Coghlan, president of Clear Channel Spectacolor.
Through their partners, LocaModa reaches the digital screens of more than 15,000 venues with an audience of more than 100 million every month across the U.S., said the company. Foursquare has recently garnered major media attention and stirred up interest among enterprising venue owners who are offering rewards such as free drinks or discounts to users, according to the company.
Interested venues or digital out-of-home networks can find Foursquare and a host of other place-based media applications in LocaModa’s App Store.
