 October 2009 Question:

What are the three most successful mobile digital signage implementations in the United States, and what specifically did they do right?

The three most unique and successful applications I have seen are:

CBS Outdoor (developed by Clusta) - Consumers are given the chance to control and change advertising on the display via their iPhone. This application creates a unique opportunity for consumer engagement and product interactivity.

Ralph Lauren (Interactive Window Application) – With the Ralph Lauren project the user can interact with their digital signage application either via a custom iPhone app or through an store window touch screen. I think this shows how you can extend consumer interaction beyond a touch screen solution.

Live Nation (developed by Nanonation) - This particular project enables concert goers to interact with pre content advertising through their cell phone. The solution gives the audience a chance participate in the content via mobile phone text messaging. This demonstrates how you can extend the reach of advertising by encouraging dynamic participation.
